Slab It Up is run by Rod and Kym Kington and family, operating around the Bundaberg region in Queensland.

Rod has over 35 years working with timber; starting with making quality timber furniture for family and friends.  When visitors would ask where we had got our furniture – they told us they couldn’t find quality handmade pieces in stores.  So this is what inspired us to start building the quality timber slab furniture as a business.

Currently Rod constructs the majority of the furniture pieces at our home based workshop in Winfield; a peaceful fishing village on the banks of Baffle Creek just north of Bundaberg.  He is often joined by other family members crafting and designing our furniture items.  With a small team and workshop, we can oversee the quality of each unique piece and take our time crafting it to your specifications.

Our timber is ethically sourced from the local area and we have a portable Lucas Mill so we can mill the slabs ourselves.  We often source our logs from trees that are ‘rescued’ because they are standing dead or fallen.  The tree is dressed and cut on site or at our workshop and each slab is chosen carefully for each piece of furniture.
